Ron Bramlett From Mustangs Plus Wants To Welcome You To Our Blog!

Welcome to the Mustangs Plus Blog. I’m Ron Bramlett and will be the primary “Blogger” for Mustangs Plus. But, don’t be surprised to see things coming from others here at Mustangs Plus because there’s always something exciting going on here and at The Restomod Shop!
During the next few months, I will be bringing you a lot of information about the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration. You see, I’m the Executive Director of the event and it’s taking up an enormous amount of my time. I’m traveling all over the country as we’re putting together all 5 of the events that are involved in making up the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration as a whole.

In case you haven’t heard, the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration will be the Super Bowl of Mustang events for our generation. 50 years of Mustangs will be celebrated in just about every way possible. To encompass the entire United States and make it as easy as possible for Mustang enthusiasts from all over the world to attend, we quickly figured out that one large event just wouldn’t allow everyone who wanted to attend to be able to. So, the Mustang 50th Birthday celebration quickly grew into 5 distinctive events. These 5 events are (in order of occurrence) as follows:

1. The Mustang Pony Drives, starting out as early as April 5th, 2014, to Mustang and Norman, Oklahoma in the center of the United States.

2. The big “Kick Off Party” in Mustang and Norman, Oklahoma on Friday, April 11th and Saturday, April 12th, 2014.

3. The Pony Drives to the main events at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, April 13th through Wednesday, April 16th, 2014.

4. The Charlotte Motor Speedway event on Wednesday, April 16th to Sunday, April 20th, 2014.

5. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway event on Wednesday, April 16th to Sunday, April 20th, 2014.

Whether your Mustang is your daily driver, your weekend warrior or a piece of art, there will be a place for you at the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration. New, old, perfect to restore or perfectly restored, you’ll want to plan to attend. Whether you enjoy driving your Mustang, showing your Mustang, cruising your Mustang, restoring your Mustang, Restomoding your Mustang, racing your Mustang or all of the above, just like me, there will be a place for you at one or all of these great Mustang 50th events. I hope you will come and enjoy any and all that you’re able to.

As I said above, the Mustang’s 50th is taking up an enormous amount of my time and you will be seeing articles and pictures about the it in the Mustangs Plus sales flyers, Restomod Magazine and the new Mustangs Plus 2014 Catalog that are all set to come out in the next few months. Oh, and you will be also able to read all about the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration on the Mustangs Plus website at www.mustangsplus.com and at the official Mustang 50th website at www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebration.com .

What kinds of things will you be able to read about? Things like this. Did you know that you could win a 1 of 1 2014 Shelby GTS Mustang Convertible during the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration? That’s right! Someone will win this beautiful Shelby GTS which has already been built and is getting ready to tour the country to promote the Mustang’s 50th Birthday Celebration. After an extensive search for a White Mustang Club of America (MCA) Edition Mustang Convertible, we found that there were only 3 in the United States. And one of the 3 wasn’t a “Green Car”, meaning that it could not be registered in California as a “new” car. Many of you know what I’m talking about because of the battle I had with the State of California over one of my 1993 Cobra R Mustangs a few years ago (I still have it even though the state sent me a letter telling me that I had to remove it from California!).

Anyway, thanks to the effort of Joe Brightenstine and the rest of the staff at Big Valley Ford here in Stockton, I was able to buy one of the other two MCA Mustang Convertibles which were both Green Cars. A couple of days later, my brother, David, delivered the beautiful MCA Edition Mustang Convertible to Gary Patterson at Shelby American for the GTS conversion. It was scheduled to receive Shelby’s GTS Package and Blue Shelby Le Mans Stripes, just like the original 1965-67 G.T.350′s Le Mans stripes that are so iconic today. A sweet ride indeed that both men and women would love to call their own. Shelby American put a rush on it and completed it in record time, despite the fact that they are right in the middle of getting ready to move into their new 135,000 sq ft facility which is just south of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino and right off the Las Vegas Strip, just east of the.I-15 freeway. Gary called me a couple of days ago and said it’s ready to go. Very exciting stuff! I’ll have some pictures to share with you and complete details on how you can win it in the next Mustangs Plus Blog.

There really is so much happening that I just don’t know where to start. Big news is that Ford Motor Company has just told us that they are coming to both the Charlotte and Las Vegas Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration events with everything that they can put together! This is great news because every day, people ask me what Ford thinks about the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration and what they are going to do. Now I can tell them. Ford is going to come to the Charlotte and Las Vegas events with equal assets for both locations. In fact, last weekend I was in Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise and sat down and talked with Ford’s Jim Owens who is the Shelby/Boss/Mustang 50th Marketing Manager. As you can understand, Jim is someone who I will be spending a lot of time with in the future concerning Ford’s involvement. To give you an example of Ford’s commitment, I asked Mark Marasco how long it will take them to set up everything at the tracks. Mark is with the Pro Team Corp, the company that Ford, as well as many other big companies and organizations, trust to create, move around the country and set up the huge displays that promote their products and services to the public. Mark looked at me and then said, “Well, I believe, once we get everything there, we can get everything set up in about 4 days.”  After he said it, I had think about that for awhile. This is a professional company that gets in and gets the job done. 4 days to set up what Ford is bringing. That speaks volumes about Ford’s commitment to the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration, doesn’t it?

The Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration will be incredible with Ford bringing everything they have and sharing it with us at both the Charlotte and Las Vegas events. I know that Ford is planning to bring us the history of the Mustang, in chronological order, as part of the Ford Display as only Ford can! Add to that Ford’s famous “Ride & Drive” which we can all take part in. Track cars, drag cars and show cars. All of which Ford will be bringing! And the drifting! What can you say about Mustangs sliding around sideways and smoking the tires off like a California forest fire? One thing’s for sure. You can’t even think about it without it bringing a smile to your face! Drifting exhibitions are a tire manufacture’s dream and the crowds just love them! I’m sure that Ford will also have a surprise or two in store for us, too, Having Ford embrace the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration will add tons of excitement to the events and lots of fun for us all!

Well, it’s time to end this Blog but let me leave you with this video. While at the Woodward Dream Cruise, I shot this video of the most fuel efficient way to cruise Woodward Ave that I’ve ever seen. It’s short and I know you’ll like it! Until next time, Happy Mustanging!

Ron: For registration at Charlotte on Wednesday, April 16th, there are two different closing times listed on various web sites and in Mustang Monthly. One source says it closes at 6PM and the other says 7PM. We are driving a long way in an effort to reach registration on Wednesday prior to closing. Can you please confirm the closing time for registration on Wednesday at Charlotte for us?
    Thanks and best regards,
